Walking down the Rochdale canal it is interesting to see the contrast between old and new Manchester. Beecham Tower is the new landmark on Deansgate, 168 metres of glass and steel.
Walking down from Deansgate station it was sad to see the cities homeless sleeping under the railway arches only metres away from the morning rush hour workers at one end and the upmarket new restaurants of Castlefield.
